Plantain Lily

Hosta 'Rainbow's End' PP17,251

Unique variegated striped hosta has incredible shiny foliage. Red stems support the dark lavender flowers. Sport of Obsession.

Hosta are among the most popular of perennials for shady areas, with literally hundreds of varieties now readily available. Plants form a sturdy mound of foliage, topped with lily-like blooms. This small selection features shiny, yellow leaves with dark green margins and green streaking. The centre of the leaves brighten to creamy-white in summer. Lavender flowers on red scapes appear in midsummer amd may attract hummingbirds. Suitable for planting in mixed containers and tubs. Hosta go completely dormant in the fall, and the dying foliage can be removed any time before mid-spring. Easily divided in either spring or fall, but plants may also be left alone for years. Greenhouse Growing Instructions:

Grow at 48-55°F to promote root growth. Provide 50% shade, while keeping slightly dry until sprouts appear. Once actively growing, move to 60°F and keep evenly moist. Fertilize accordingly. Plants generally finish in 6-8 weeks based on growing conditions.

Transplanting Instructions:

Plant in well draining soil. Spread roots downward in pot leaving the eyes just at the soil surface when watered in. If necessary long roots may be trimmed. Apply a broad spectrum fungicide according to directions to avoid crown and root rot.
