Part of the Younique? series, recently bred in the Netherlands by Jan Verschoor. Good for a shady position if given a rich, moist soil and regular watering. Also thrives in tubs, or mixed containers. Fertilize in April and June. Excellent for cutting. Seed heads may be removed, or left on the plant for winter interest. Will tolerate full sun, in cool summer regions. USPP#20656: unlicensed propagation prohibited.

Greenhouse Growing Instructions:

Begin at 55-60° F until new growth appears. Moisture is key for optimal growth so keep evenly moist, never allow to dry. Once actively growing temperature can be increased to initiate flowering, and begin feeding at 75-125 ppm N with each watering. Provide 50% shade to avoid leaf scorch. Plants generally finish in 8-10 weeks based on growing conditions.

Transplanting Instructions:

Plant in professional potting soil so that the eyes rest at or just below the soil surface after watering in. Roots may be trimmed if necessary to fit into pot. Apply a broad spectrum fungicide according to directions to avoid crown and root rot.

Homeowner Planting and Maintenance Tips:

Easy to grow in moist, well-drained soil in partial shade. This family of astilbe is the most suitable for containers. Follow a watering schedule for first growing season to establish your plant. Can divide clumps every 3-5 years in early spring if desired.
