For Size 7/8 Bulbs

Here are some ideas on how to make the most of 7/8 bulbs.

  • If you CTF or interrupt cool: Pot 7's first and get into rooting first. They will benefit more from an additional 1-3 day's of extra rooting. Move to cooler first and end cooling at 950 hours. They will benefit from higher leaf numbers as well as two extra days of forcing time.
  • If you have case cooled bulbs yourself, pot them after 950 hours of cooling. Or if you have received case cooled bulbs, pot them first and stop the precooling process. This will preserve leaf numbers and get them ahead of your larger bulbs.
  • Put them in the warmer place in your greenhouse, at least don't put them by vents or a cool place. 7/8's take 3-5 days longer to force than larger bulbs and this well help reduce that difference over time when forced side by side with 8's or 9's.
  • Watch your height control. These plants will be naturally shorter, therfore less PGR's will be required than on larger bulbs that you may be accustomed to. Keep a separate graghical track to monitor height.
