Do not harvest rhubarb the year you plant your crowns, remove any seed stalks that appear as they reduce the vigor of the plant. A light harvest may be taken the second year and by the third season all stalks that are 1 inch in diameter or larger may be harvested over a period of 6-8 weeks. Rhubarb cannot compete with weeds or grass
