June 30, 2003 Easton, Pennsylvania - Work is underway to triple the size our existing distribution and customer service center in Easton Pennsylvania. The expansion became increasingly necessary in order to better coordinate logistics for our growing customer base.

The additional space will enable us to carry more inventory for immediate shipping of fall bulbs from August through December. During these months, each day is critical and the sooner we can ship to our customers, the sooner our customers have product on their shelves to sell.

This latest construction project is the third major facilities expansion project in the last two years. Last year, work was completed on expanding the Sassenheim facilities in the Netherlands to over 200,000 square feet. The Vineland New Jersey distribution center of 80,000 square feet is also now operational.

Construction is expected to complete in August of 2003.

Sassenheim - The Netherlands - Gebr. Langeveld the wholly owned subsidiary of Netherland Bulb Company announces the acquisition of new technology to assist in meeting and exceeding customer's expectations of quality.

The new technology comes in the form of the BBX machine from Havatec (www.havatec.nl). Internally we have coined the term "MRI" machine because it allows us pass each bulb through X-RAY sensors which are able to detect bulb imperfections long before are they detectable by the human eye such as bulb rot and viruses.

In the past, the only way to determine if a bulb was healthy was to cut the bulb open and see if there was a healthy embryo of a flower inside. This of course would ruin the bulb and was only used as a method to spot check for developing viruses. Other methods used in the past were to hand inspect every bulb. During the peak season, personnel would sit behind conveyor belts for 8 to 12 hours per day inspecting bulbs. All this hard work would still leave the possibility of bad bulbs arriving in the United States after a two week sea voyage and transit time to the customer's business.

The BBX or "MRI machine" solves this problem because it can take a picture of over 45,000 bulbs per hour without any waste and alert the inspectors of bulbs that may have potential issues. The machine has proven itself in other companies for the last two years.

Ted Langeveld, managing director in Holland is excited about the acquisition and its potential to further improve quality. In an interview Ted indicated that he was confident that many of the bugs and logistical issues with such a new and intricate piece of technology have been worked out by the manufacturer. Furthermore, he indicated that he and his team were now busy working on how to best integrate and train the knowledgeable work force of quality inspectors to best use this technology. "We are fully aware that simply placing a piece of new technology in the warehouse is not a silver bullet, it will take new processes and procedures to fully integrate the MRI machine and use it to its fullest potential." There is time built in between now and when bulb packing season starts in June so that we get it right the first time. After all, Ted and his team have been through the acquisition of automated packing machines to handle the many different lines of packaging that Netherland Bulb Company carries.

January 25, 2002 Sassenheim, The Netherlands - Work has commenced on the 2002 warehouse expansion project for the packing and quality assurance facility in The Netherlands. The additional packing facilities will double the current facilities from about 100,000 square feet to 200,000 square feet when construction is completed. This state of the art flower bulb packing facility includes many automated bulb cooling facilities and automated packing machinery.

Ted Langeveld, managing director in The Netherlands states that "the warehouse expansion project completed in 1994 was a significant sign of our success and growth, the much needed further expansion less than eight years later is a testament to our continued success." He went on to indicate that the expansion was necessary to adequately concentrate on continuing to deliver the highest quality bulbs and bare root perennials that the company's current and future customers deserve.

Work is expected to be complete in the June 2002 time frame, just in time for the fall packing season.
